Deadly fire at the Bays End Manor Mobile Home Park in Safety Harbor

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at the Bays End Manor Mobile Home Park. The park is located at 3432 SR-580 in Safety Harbor. The fire broke out at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Firefighters encountered a nearly fully involved home upon arrival. Within minutes, firefighters were able to locate a victim in the home. The woman was in grave condition and transported to a local hospital with paramedics attempting resuscitate efforts. The woman was identified as 68 year-old Donna Spradley of Lot #306. Spradley died of her injuries at Mease Countryside Hospital.

The fire is currently under control and the State Fire Marshal will assist the Safety Harbor Fire Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. The origin of the fire is unknown at this time but detectives say the power to the residence had been disconnected and the resident was known to use candles for lighting.

The Safety Harbor Fire Department was assisted by Clearwater Fire & Rescue, Oldsmar Fire Rescue Department, Dunedin Fire Rescue, East Lake Special Fire District, Sunstar Paramedics, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal, and Duke Energy.
