85 year-old Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on US-19 at Alderman Road

Walter Fitzgerald, an 85 year-old male pedestrian from Palm Harbor was struck and killed at approximately 6:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

The crash occurred on US-19 at the intersection with Alderman Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 22 year-old man from Holiday, Florida, was driving a 2001 Cadillac SLS northbound on US-19 in the inside lane at Alderman Road.

Fitzgerald was walking westbound across US-19 in a marked crosswalk. Troopers say that the Cadillac entered the intersection under a green traffic signal and collided with the man.

Fitzgerald died on-scene.

FHP does not believe alcohol was related and the investigation continues.
